Survey for Insurance

Survey for Insurance is often required by a vessel's insurer when insured with comprehensive cover on a vessel nominally attaining 20 - 25 years of age, and typically, every 5 years thereafter. As a minimum, a survey for insurance considers hull condition. Your insurer should guide you to the level of survey required.

Valuation Survey

The Valuation Survey is a visual walk through the vessel. By assessing the vessel interior, including on-board equipment, the Surveyor can, through comparison against similar vessels offered for sale on the wider market and personal knowledge / expertise, establish a fair market value. Any valuation, however, relies upon a realistic buyer and an assumption of no hidden faults or defects.

This survey is normally required by an insurance company to help establish replacement cost of the vessel in the event of total or partial loss. It is also often required by a finance company when being asked to consider lending money to purchase a vessel.

Limited Scope Survey

Tailoring a survey to meet your requirements is not a problem and can utilize other services offered which many clients find of benefit when balancing cost against the need to understand the condition of a vessel. For example this could combine a Hull Survey and Gas Safety Check or Hull Survey with Boat Safety Scheme examination.

Should you require any further information or just wish to talk through the process, please do not hesitate to call or email.

A Limited Scope Survey is limited to only a scope of work as instructed.
